Figured Maple, Zebra wood, Western Maple, Walnut,
Salvaged wood: Mahogany (banister from a burned house & old table), Red Oak & Garry Oak (old hardwood floor)
For this commission, my client wanted a box to put bookbinding supplies in. Additionally, they wanted no hardware such as as a handle.
As part of my design, I allowed for store bought plastic divider boxes and other containers. As a result, this is a two part-box with 1/4” finger joint construction. The upper box, which has a sliding lid inlaid with a fossil rock, sits inside a wrap around Mahogany strip. The Mahogany strip is used to carry the box. The lower box has a long tray and 2 small trays with 1/8” finger joint construction.
